The Ridge Trail can be reached from either the Trailhead Parking Lot or the Summit Parking lot, which is located at the end of Radio Road. This roughed trail is a favorite of cross county runners and backpacking enthusiasts’ because of the round trip distance of 4.8 miles from the Summit Parking Lot. The Ridge Tail also acts as a secondary park fire road. Starting from the Summit Parking lot, the trail parallels the southeastern slope of the mountain. This segment of the mountain supports large populations of endangered plants, wild flowers, and federally protected butterflies like the mission blue, bay checkerspot and the callippe silverspot butterflies.
